WEEK 5, 6 & 7

WEEK 5
Follow-up work on Blaming Hollywood.
+ ORAL COMPREHENSION
You did a fill in the blanks with an extract from This Land Is Mine (Vivre Libre) by Jean Renoir, the famous painter’s son. He was a French director who emigrated to the U.S. in 1940. He did this movie in Hollywood in 1943.It is a committed film which deals accurately with the occupation of a country by armed forces.

Part of the scene studied refers to smoking. ... One key sentence being:
“ ... your dear father could have lived much longer if he hadn’t smoked.”

Le conditionnel présent et passé français peut servir de modèle à l’anglais et réciproquement. Pour une fois, il est bon de le noter !

WEEK 6
We will start to work on the following unit which deals with The Power of Words.
We’ll study an extract from a famous novel, 1984 by Georges Orwell.
We’ll also work on a poem by a Carribbean poet: John Agard.
If we have some time left, we’ll also do an oral comprehension exercise.
Then, you’’ll also tackle the literacy issue with the documents of the book p. 39 and the workbook p. 15-16.... during the holidays!
For the TS SPO, an additional written expression work: write a minimum of 150 words about freedom of expression.
